Valentina Tereshkova
Valentina Tereshkova was born on March the 6, in 1937 in Bolshooye Maslennikovo, a village in western Russia. She worked in a textile mill and parachuted as a hobby. She was chosen to be trained as a cosmonaut in the USSR's space program. On June the 13 in 1963, she became the first woman to travel into space. After her space flight, shhe served in the Communist party and represented the USSR at numerous international events. On Novemmber the 3 in 1963, Tereshkova married Adrian Nikolayev. On June the 8 in 1964, their daughter, Yelena Adrianovna Nikolayeva, was born. Tereshkova and Nikolayev divorced in 1980. In 2007, Vladimir Putin invited Tereshkova to celebrate her 70th birthday. At the time she said, "If I had moneyy, I would enjoy flying to Mars".She carried the Olympic torch of the Olympic Games of Beijein 2008 in Saint Petersburg.
